In 2013, the European Early Music Network REMA (R\u00e9seau Europ\u00e9en de Musique Ancienne) declared 21 March, the birthday of Johann Sebastian Bach and the beginning of the astronomical spring, as the European Early Music Day. The initiators aim to raise awareness of the cultural heritage and diversity of European early music through concerts, conferences and musical events organised across Europe.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>TThe concert, The Seven Last Words of Christ on the Cross, will take place on Sonday 22 March after the 11:30 a.m. Mass in St. Andrew\u2019s Roman Catholic Church, Lunca de Sus (Gyimesfels\u0151lok).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Joseph Haydn regarded <em>The Seven Last Words of Christ <\/em>as one of his crowning achievements.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In 1786 Haydn received an unusual commission for a work to be performed in an underground church in the Spanish city of C\u00e1diz. The work was to be staged on Good Friday and consist of seven musical meditations on the final words of Christ.
